Tang, Bentley & Jackson Solicitors, Fareham, Hampshire
Edward Jackson LL.B (Hons)Solicitor & Director
I started out my career in criminal law 30 years ago as a Legal Advisor in the Magistrates' Court.
Most of my working life has since been spent in private practice and has always involved defence work.
Whilst I cover all aspects of the work I have a particular interest in Road Traffic Law.
There is still something special and enjoyable about helping those individuals who have just been unfortunate and are
facing disqualification as a result.
Geographically I have been providing help and assistance in Southampton, Fareham and Portsmouth in Hampshire
all of my working life.
From the time I qualified as a solicitor, 12 years ago, I have always worked locally and always as a defence solicitor.
I like to think that am a good listener and someone who recognises the importance of ensuring that a client realises that someone
is personally interested in their case and working hard to help them.
Knowing that the best result possible has been achieved for a client is
what gives me the most job satisfaction.
I was called to Bar as a barrister in 1995 and have worked in the criminal courts since this time.
In the early part of my career, at the independent Bar, I both defended and prosecuted cases.
This background I believe helps give a better balance to the approach taken on any a given case.
I have, however, specialised in defence work for the last 8 years.
The majority of my time is spent at the Crown Court where my workload is varied and regularly involves representing
those charged with the most serious of offences.
Whilst I cover all aspects of the work I am often found working as one of the Crown Court Team.
I have in this role had conduct of some of our biggest cases including a multi-defendant murder trial.
I not only enjoy, but am passionate about, the work that we do.
